Once you have seen the CSF Surgery specialist, and the type of surgery you need has been determined, you will need to contact CSF to schedule your surgery date.

The process with CSF Surgery before your surgery

If you are having a surgery through CSF Surgery these are important points to know:

• Once you have seen a CSF Surgery specialist, confirmed that you need surgery, and you have agreed with the surgery cost, you must give a deposit to schedule and reserve your surgery date and Operating Room.
• A CSF Surgery Patient Advocate will schedule your surgery date and preoperative exams (pre-ops) with you.
• The surgeon’s office will prepare the orders for the preoperative exams (electrocardiogram, x-rays, laboratory tests, and additional exams depending on each patient and type of surgery).
• Preoperative exams are done one to seven days before your surgery. Once you have completed your pre-ops, you must return to the CSF’s office to finalize the paperwork for your surgery process.
• The day before your surgery the hospital will call you to confirm your hospital admission time. If you have not been called the day before your surgery by 3:30 P.M. You should call the hospital at the number given to you by your Patient Advocate.

YOUR PRE-OPERATORY CARE – IMPORTANT POINTS

• You must NOT eat or drink anything after 8:00 P.M. the day before your surgery.
• You should inform your surgeon of any medications you are taking.
• You must have a designated driver. Remember that after your surgery you cannot drive for 24 hours.
• Go to your surgery wearing comfortable clothes and shoes, something that is easy to take off and put on.
• If you are not a resident of Kern County, after your surgery you must stay overnight in the city of Bakersfield or surrounding cities.
• Remember to be clean before your surgery. It is recommended that you shower/bathe the night before or the day of your surgery.
